Conjure Me The Ocean

 

Conjure me the ocean tonight;

whisper her melancholy crashing

in ears that wait for the sound of you...

        

Bring your magic to my bedside,

drip your words across my cheeks,

staining my pillows like blissful tears,

leaving me to soak in a sea crafted

by the intangible depths of your mind.

 

Tonight I stand before a shore

that is painfully devoid of moonlight,

my eyes adapting, toes testing

the frigid and frothy waters,

and though my heart is filled with fear,

I tread waist-deep into the darkness,

washing away apprehension

and giving birth to chance.

Such a lovely poem, there's a great d eal of th ought and em otion in it. Seems to fo cus on the sad, ye t you w ant the other person deep into your th oughts - where he or she already is.

You know what's funny about this poem, is that it can be taken in a positive and/or a negative light. There seems to be a duality behind your intent in this poem, and that's kind of cool. I like that because it could sort of cater to the mood of the reader, you know? Either they can be in a lighter mood and see it as a good thing that chance is being taken despite fear, and if the reader is in a darker mood, they can kind of succumb to the fear and, I want to say loneliness aspect. Of course, that could be just my interpretation of this piece. Perhaps you had a definite intention with this.

I love these lines the most. They're beautifully creative and original, but at the same time, you create an image using the water element to describe a specific emotion.
I like this one very much despite the fact that it is more melancholy than I usually prefer in poetry. I just love the way you write and create such imagery. =)
