Shades of Gray

Shades of Gray

A Poem by Anima Inspired

Sometimes when I walk outside,
give myself over to the thick dampness
of fog rolling off of a restless sea,
I think of you…

When I close my eyes, and
allow the scent of sand and water
to seep beneath the surface of my skin,
the echo of your fingertips haunts me,
leaving traces of infinity
for me to ponder while

I try to quiet the sound of blood
rushing to my head,
making me dizzy, delirious,

defining my existence,
in that moment when memory
seems to tangle with what is real,

and for seconds you are here,

hiding within the folds of my tarnished soul.

I really like this. Longing, shown physically and emotionally.

This sensitive poem speaks about an opressing situation....the state of in the heart.... something is happening... you so wonderfully described this feeling incomplete. Thank you! I loved especially "the echo of your fingertips haunts me, leaving traces of infinity"-----original and touching.

I love the first stanze the most, that imagery that you project, of course the entire poem is fantastic, but I love those words the most. Just the same, I also highly favor the vivid picture of the fourth stanza. I do admit though, the last line, "my tarnished soul." This seems a little awkward, like it came out of left field somewhere. It seems to contradict what I know of you. Another fantastic poem!
