Through the Glass

Through the Glass

A Poem by Anima Inspired

Through this misty glass
fogged by our passion,
I watch as your footsteps
leave traces in the snow;
a path that leads you
away from me and
still nearer to the core
of my brimming heart.

Only a window separates me
from a world of cold where
you venture into the darkness,
the scent of me still lingering
upon your flushed skin,
and I sit, half-naked in the firelight,
tracing hearts on glass
that drip your name.

You put beauty and grace even into something so heartbreaking and that ending was so amazing... you really have such a brilliant way with words.

the imagery here is perfect; just enough - not too much. I am there - I am she - watching my lover leave me through a misty pane of glass; tracing little hearts upon the frosted pane like a lovesick schoolgirl :-) wonderfully done.

I really liked this work, your choice of words and description are perfect. It paints a beautiful image in the mind. My favourite lines were:

'a path that leads you
away from me and
still nearer to the core
of my brimming heart'

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and these lines state that. Though there is phyiscal distance growing between the two, the emotions and feelings of love are growing stronger.

'the scent of me still lingering
upon your flushed skin,
and I sit, half-naked in the firelight'

These lines also appeal to me, hinting at the (sexual) passion that came before his departure. The feelings of love are not just emotional, but physical. It is something that appeals to the senses, not just to the mind and heart.

I truly liked this poem; it's flow & it's beauty were perfect.

"tracing hearts on glass
that drip your name..."

I'm becoming a huge fan of your work,
very quickly. Those lines are just
outstanding! The entire piece... wow.

This is so full of passion...
Separation after connecting
souls... such a feeling of sadness
as they walk away, watching them go,
yet that person has now embedded
themself in your heart...

Beautiful.
