Ilumination

Ilumination

A Poem by Anima Inspired
"

A poem about my ever present muse...a friend when there are no others...

"

Tenderly you touch me,
your satin fingers trailing
across my bare skin,
stroking my hair,
and waking me gradually
from a dull slumber,
as the light of day erupts.

I sit with you over coffee,
listening to your speeches
on faraway places
and dreams that reveal
the essence of eternity,
and I’ll admit that you
lose me sometimes
when the weight of your words
forces me to feel too much,
and your delicate embrace
becomes intoxicating,

but I never stray too far,
for your words are my devotion,
the quiet music playing
in my daydreams,
and nestled in the tender crux
of your unearthly wings
I fly to places unnamed
and my heart is suspended
in the caverns of inspiration
where I see all things clearly,
if only for a little while…

And as night marches slowly
across a dimming sky,
you lay me down
in fresh sheets, scented
with the anticipation of dreams,
saying goodnight with a promise
to rouse me when the light returns.

oh me,what love, true lovers would love to read this, live this
he awakens me when full light with his tender touch, then he speaks of dreams and hopes that will take us time ,eternity, sometimes i even lose you,so big words and hopes, but never ,no,i still go along, for my hungry devotion for your words is endless ,but as night draws,to close, you lay me down with promise to rouse me at first day light, and so we start again, what marvels,so dreamy so full of love, just beautiful

Wow what an excellent entry to my contest. Way to set the bar so high! I think others will challenge but clearly this is an early favorite. I'd be curious to know if you wrote this some time ago or if you wrote it for specifically for this contest. It doesn't matter either way, I am just that blown away that you were that on target.

Favorite line: Well the first verse is out of this world but I also like this line;
"I fly to places unnamed
and my heart is suspended
in the caverns of inspiration
where I see all things clearly,
if only for a little while"

That just rings so true to me. I can surely relate. Sometimes "real life" can cut things short thus only allowing that brief moment of seeing things clearly.

Nice piece and good luck!

Mm...nope. I'm not going to put words to this one. I'll just let silent awe do the speaking for me.

I agree with H.G.

This poem read like so many sweet soft lull-a-byes...with an amorous kick! I felt as if I became floating, lost within your verses. Such delicate yet insistent poetics.

This goes to my favs.
