IluminationA Poem by Anima InspiredA poem about my ever present muse...a friend when there are no others...
Tenderly you touch me,
your satin fingers trailing
across my bare skin,
stroking my hair,
and waking me gradually
from a dull slumber,
as the light of day erupts.
I sit with you over coffee,
listening to your speeches
on faraway places
and dreams that reveal
the essence of eternity,
and I’ll admit that you
lose me sometimes
when the weight of your words
forces me to feel too much,
and your delicate embrace
becomes intoxicating,
but I never stray too far,
for your words are my devotion,
the quiet music playing
in my daydreams,
and nestled in the tender crux
of your unearthly wings
I fly to places unnamed
and my heart is suspended
in the caverns of inspiration
where I see all things clearly,
if only for a little while…
And as night marches slowly
across a dimming sky,
you lay me down
in fresh sheets, scented
with the anticipation of dreams,
saying goodnight with a promise
to rouse me when the light returns.
