SHE WEARS A WHITE CLOAK A poem about Brighid/ Bride inspired by the music of Lowell Ausmus. 2011 She wears a white cloak, through mists of time. Tiny, white snowflakes dancing, dancing fine, Upon the air, simple there, Her smiling countenance near; Floating suspended like a downy feather, Our Lady is here in this winter weather. In the cold of wintery night, Silver breath sparkles bright, Snow falling from the branch of green, White upon white, in this moonlit scene. Her cloak it blankets all in sight In a soft, luminous, silver white. Upon white wings the flurries swirl, 'Round the moon the clouds unfurl With glowing edges therein bound, The wind tiptoes without sound. Clouds, lavender and blues, yellow and pinks with all the hues echoes erie in their sound. Flakes of snow make a bell sound, Falling, falling on the frozen ground. Hush of branches moves above, heavy with snow, the limbs awove; Calls of the owl echoes clear, Spirit of life and death hovers near. She wears a white cloak, through mists of time. Tiny, white snowflakes dancing, dancing fine, Snowdrop buds now appear, Bridghid's day draws near; Bringing joy from the darkened sky, Our Lady announces that spring draws nigh. copyright Awenglow 2011 © 2017 Ani Ashford |
