Angel of our lives

Angel of our lives

A Poem by Anish Gowda
"

A poem dedicated to mother.

"
He wonders, what is sacrifice
He wonders what is love.
He wonders what is selflessness.

She welcomed you in this world with a smile.
She poured your life with love.
She ensured your stomach is never empty, though she had many sleepless empty nights.
She taught you to walk, though she had many fall.
Irrespective of those stormy cold and dark nights, her lap became your bed, which ensured your sleep.
She did every single bit to bring smile on your face, she hid her tears and her problems in amidst of all this.
Looking at her child grow and become successful, is the only dream and aim she had.
She realizes all her dreams, she looks at her son's photo who is a successful man now.
She calls him, and he replies saying he is busy and will call later.
Whether he had his dinner? was her only worry.
She's all alone, she realizes that she has grown old and weak. But thought of his son's health worries her.
One day, she left the world in silence.
He is standing in front of her grave,
He is missing that smile,
He is missing that warmth and affection.
He is missing that attention.
He is missing that love.
But...................
He realized what is sacrifice.
He realized what is selflessness.
He realized what is love

I have actually seen this happening Anish. Sons basking in their mother's love. Growing and then going away. Trying but somehow never being able to give her time, give back some of that tremendous love that she gave them, till one day it was time to say the finally goodbye and how they stood at her grave and cried! An excellent poem.

this is such a heart jerking poem. such a sad ending... love is a powerful force and separation is what gets us. being broken. i love how you stayed positive in the end despite the grief you must be going through.

It is true that a mother is an epitome of selflessness , sacrifice and love...You are very true..Actually , today's children don't realise what is the importance of their mother...It is really an emotional poem...Today , in this busy world not only a mother's value has lessened but also the importance of family has also lessened...A brilliant poetry and i must say you were able to express all your ideas and emotions through your words in this poem...Keep it up and well done..
Keep on writing and thanks for sharing..
