Depression mask

Depression mask

A Poem by Thisismythearpy
"

I think I was trying to describe fake personalities some of us depressed people use to hide our depression from others if that makes sense.

"
Your whole personality is an act
To hide the fact

That you have depression

Close the curtains
Kill the lights
Take a final bow to the crowd

On your way home
From any social event
You wish you had known
Where your mind was sent

Act like you’re cheerful
 Despite being fearful

Of what you really are

Your arm aches
From holding up that mask
Of personalities you fabricate

Lowering the mask
Everyone will ask

If you’re alright

Tell them yes
Despite the mess
You make when you cry every night
