Chapter 1

Chapter I

Liz looked into the mirror as she was getting dressed for school. She felt like she kept gaining weight by the day, even though she only weighed 106 pounds. She kept thinking that she would never be skinny enough to appreciate her appearance; she turned away so she didn't have to see her reflection any longer.

Elizabeth Rose Farina, the girl that seemed perfect on the outside, but was dying on the inside. She's 17 years old and has extreme levels of anxiety; she hides from the world most of the time. She had many boyfriends in the past but still felt as though she ruined the relationship, even if they had been the ones that cheated; she blamed herself. She had reasoning for her self-hatred, mostly from her past.

As she reached for a short sleeved shirt, Liz cringed at the thought of people seeing her arms; She felt as if everything about herself was a disgrace. She put on a sweater and picked up her notebook. 

"I'm going to be late again," she thought to herself, "I would just ruin it if anyone saw me there anyway." She was beyond depressed and hadn't noticed how messy her room had gotten; it had usually been neat and organized. Liz hadn't been eating lately, she believed if she did, everything would make her gain weight.

She walked onto the empty bus; no one else rode the bus anymore since they all turned 16. Liz was jealous because she had already turned 17 and still hadn't learned to drive. It made her feel like she wasn't meeting standards. 

When she got to school, Liz paused to take a deep breath as she walked into the crowded hallways. "Don't talk to me," she thought as she got crushed into the stampede of people, "Don't waste your time." She rushed to class and walked through the doorway to see everyone staring at her. 

"Get to your seat before you interrupt the class more than you already have," the teacher said. It was clear that she was frustrated. Liz made her way to her seat and waited for the lesson to end before she heard the lady on the intercom call her to the office.
