Sleepless, Is My Reply

Sleepless, Is My Reply

A Poem by Phalen Schuyler

Walked, and I walked
On a white-brick road, sun-burned with age
Stalked my sanity, but I lost her somewhere around town
Passed a forest of trees bowed down with memories and
Blackened Cajun leaves

We talked, we talked
And I didn’t meddle with his mind, no
I didn’t meddle with his mind
No, not this time

Asked what the feel of life is, as it goes by
And sleepless, is my reply

Asked what the feel of life is, as it goes by
And sleepless, is my reply
