Jacket and earth

Jacket and earth

A Poem by Angie

Remembering...

the bitter wind

bite of hunger

beneath my skin

the distant cold

truth behold

this earth is gold

if you listen

I knew a girl

she walked on by

couldn’t hear

the willow cry

I wonder how

some people stay

so far away

from this place

maybe it is me

in part

maybe I’m animal

at heart

maybe all

that I’ve been shown

was just a Phantom

in the dark

but how I long

to make you see

to hear the voice

that’s calling me

the bitter cold

jacket and earth

one knows home

when they return

Author's Note

Angie
One of my most personal poems...I will probably revisit it and edit it a few times before it is as I want it to be. For me this is about the feeling as a child I felt with that time alone outside when suddenly that sense of wonder and wisdom fill you up...the sense of being near to God. I grew up without many of the comforts that other children had and a home that didn't feel as safe as it should. My soul found a home in nature.
