Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time

A Poem by Angelus Sancti
"

Thought I'd just test the waters by submitting one or two of my old poems. It's weird how things run full circle sometimes.

"
Once, I found myself looking out on some shoreless sea
Once, you walked with angels, so far away from me
Once, you crossed a mountain, that I could never climb
And I dreamt that I was with you, once upon a time
You look at the stars, painted on your empty sky.
I wish that you never had to say goodbye..

Now your tears paint the world in the color of your hue
The colors which create this beauty that is you.
They fall like the feathers from your soiled wings
A raptured decay like all fallen kings
Your path of sadness, now lit only by your love
Like an Angel in the darkness, who had fallen from above
But my best wishes couldnt hope to repair
That Angel surrounded in a shroud of despair

I wanted so badly to touch you that day
To take all your fears and wash them away
To break through the glass in your silent world
To hold you in my arms - my heart unfurled.
I wanted to feel your soul next to mine,
To say "it's okay, I'm here this time"
To mend all the promises this world couldnt keep
At all of your sorrow, this Angel would weep.

So ravaged now, but your light still shines through
Of all of my memories, the best are of you.
I can't let you go - not now, not ever
I can't let you fall, I'll hold on forever.
Even if you had no wings , and I had only one.
I would fly with you on this dream,
In our arms, together,
'till the world would come undone.
