A Former friend.

A Former friend.

A Poem by Naomi Montana Walsh
"

I was and still am a good friend of my childhoods friends .. but somehow as an adult I never connect and my adult friendships never last.. this is about one of those.

"

I still think of her, that friend once removed...

and never as dear as those who held my hand as a child.

I still think of her, too old for patty cake,

but still jumping rope.

I still picture her , putting her damage on

eying me so suspiciously.

We should have had more in common,

being equals in age, but as a child I ran too fast and tired too early.

Still, by the time I met her, I was already too far ahead to catch up with,

or she was too far behind to care.

I still think of her , but never as dear as those who held my hand as a child.

She was right to eye me with suspicion. .

I have the same four best friends since elementary school but my adult ones seem to come and go so I know that feeling... I think this is a poem... it is bout emotions and free flowing... I like your straight forward approach.
