When I write PoetryA Poem by Naomi Montana WalshJust thoughts on writing poetry
When I sit down to write a poem , I think that the words should move, they should be going somewhere , I think I should be going somewhere with them and I think of you whomever you are , that you should be there too walking with us, or running with us depending on how fast or slow we choose to go.
But I never know if they have legs or wings or perhaps no means to move at all.
I am their legs, this is the thought that comes to me now, they move as I do, I choose , whether it be to walk to run to fly or even to crawl with them.
But you , do they ? , do I move you?
Poetry is only part selfish, the part where I come in, but in my mind as I write, I think we, you and I and poetry, should be going somewhere, and I think , not of how, but of where And think that it as well be “Anywhere”.
In fact for me it must be.. I can not think of poetry in terms of limited definitions, Write Haiku, Clerihew, Couplet, if you choose , but be aware that you , may go anywhere with anything and you may do this in soliloquy or scream it to the world, and that it might move someone it might move a mountain or a molehill , no , it will move someone , even if it is just me .. © 2009 Naomi Montana WalshReviews
