Ignorance and Bliss

Ignorance and Bliss

A Poem by Naomi Montana Walsh
"

well it's not always bliss..

"

Oh, you stupid thing
It wasn't me that you outsmarted
Oh, you stupid thing...Amiee Mann.

If ignorance is indeed bliss then why aren't you smiling?

She laughs and feigns sincerity

But the undertow of turmoil disturbs

her plasticine face.

She knows .. far to little about her own suffering

other than she must assume we are all suffering too.

If ignorance is bliss, then why does she hurt herself so with it?

I bare her with grace

that stupid little thing

I give her innocence for her ignorance

and I wish her bliss.

I can feel the frustration!
I know how you feel, and i love the use of metaphors. Metaphors are my bread and butter!
I have always wondered how people could think ignorance is bliss, ignorance is ignorance. Maybe I am just too close minded. But to me bliss is sinking myself into a good book, ignorance has nothing to do with that.
Oh better stop rambling I think.

Hello Naomi

I love the use of the name, Amiee Mann. It adds such a wonderful personal aspect to the work. Her plastestine face... lovely metaphor....
