Sleep or Poetry

Oh.. nothing but an early morning poem

 

Today

I was supposed to write poetry

I woke up early and had the slightest of headaches

I hoped coffee would help.

 

I hoped to be inspired,

then

despite the caffeine

wanted to go back to sleep.

 

There is no pariculiar reason why

I am writing and not sleeping and I suspect

I shall go back to bed.

 

Today I am supposed to write poetry

although nothing or no one orders I do.

 

Today...but perhaps later, I will write poetry

but for now ..I go back to sleep.
