Juliet's Moon

Juliet's Moon

A Poem by Naomi Montana Walsh
"

I wrote this many years ago..I must have been written it for someone , but I forget now who.

"

"Oh, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon, that monthly changes in her circled orb, lest your love should prove likewise." -Juliet, Shakespear, "Romeo & Juliet"

He takes to love's weakness and plays it like a  serenade for me to swoon by, under Juliet's inconstant moon
and he like the moon is inconstant.
Yeah, well, Juliet, you gave into Romeo way too soon and as such cries from men of his kind tend to fade fast.
You should of known Juliet it could never last.
But, I don't blame you for men's desires become flames that care not what they consume.
And when a women is weak with love's fever, sometimes it's hard to be cool.
But "hey, Juliet,he died too.." which make me envious of you.

Well, I thought the word "cool" was a little out of place in the swift, vivid language used to describe this, but I like it. It may be a little confusing for other people though, so maybe add the quote from shakespeare..

Oh such realistic truth.. how Juliet is so willing to fall so easily to one she knows deep down will bring her sorrow.. the cause of her own dagger is her behaviour? Can we truly control the emotion of love.. do we not crave that which we do not want the most? Passionate love consists of falling first in visual lust.. then to look further into another.. once drawn in.. we are hooked. These lines are so brutally realistic and true:

But, I don't blame you for men's desires become flames that care not what they consume.

I am a believer that more and more.. this is swinging both ways.. as women are now more independant.. love is a two-way street.. need to look both ways before crossing! Loved it =)
