My Dark life

I am new here at Writers cafe..but in a very short time I have read a lot of posting ..and frankly my entry speaks for itself.

I have played this song lyric in my head over and over in the last two weeks,

I have been reading many , many confessions like the one above , I guess , for some reason ,

The dark makes people feel isolated or unique.

I read warnings, beware , read at your own risk

these dark dwellers , assume everyone is afraid of the dark which makes me think maybe they are.

I am not afraid of the dark , I enjoy writing a good creepy story now and again and I even like

the occasional gloomy mood poetry..

But I no longer find it unique

As a matter of fact I think that so many people are walking around in the dark that

that they must be running into each other all the time

I suggest , that one carry some sort of light with them when they decide to explore dark areas

dark is one thing being blind is another.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about being in the dark is that you can convince yourself you are

all alone .

I am too old to believe that anymore , I know that everywhere I am there is someone who is there as

well or has been there as well.

I believe in the balance of dark and light

I believe that one can be blinded , both by light and darkness

I believe

I do know about your dark life.

Because we all have a dark life that is the easy way , keeping the light on is the hard part

it is the challenge

before there was a world we are told that all there was , was darkness

and in that darkness a word echoed

Let there be light.

I love a good dark novel and the above is not a judgement..I write them as well..just thoughts

So, you like to keep the light on ?

That`s nice. I prefer the light. No problem with
the dark , it is just too full of people who have sinned,
who hurt, who can`t find love and are always trying to
find their way.

Great poem !

Your poem is full of the good old , "do it yourself"
philosophy. Again, the dark is fine, but what is wrong
with concentrating on the bright, sunny side of life ?
Granted, many people have problems, people who are
forced to live on the dark side, but it is amazing how
many of the disadvantaged people still subscribe to a
bright and sunny life.

I find this entry interesting. I must admit that I haven't read a lot of dark writing. Perhaps it is for comfort that some writers like dark novels. Maybe they think that their best works are the ones that are dark and/or gloomy. Who knows. I guess what matters is that it is a good, complex story. I really enjoyed the quote by Elvis Costello though. I also liked the ending paragraph as well. Good technique and imagery!

I think you are right, some people are not only afraid of the dark but of there own dark feelings, I think on some level we all have some know and then. What separates people are what they do with them. most let them pass on, some though try to deny that they exist afraid that people will think bad of them.
