The Muses of Sappho

The Muses of Sappho

A Poem by Naomi Montana Walsh
"

just about inspiration

"

It is the Muses
who have caused me
to be honored: they
taught me their craft

Sappho
tr. Barnard

.
Poetry ...
I remember those muses.. each blending words into tapestries
and stringing thoughts like pearls around my soul.
I was poet and prisoner too.
I drank oceans
and cried them back into there their beds.
I lit incense to fill the room with Violets...
I rushed to the window and looked out and did not see the world
as it was, but as it should be.
I remember those muses .. they also taught me.
