In the rain

A reflection on a past love of mine.

I sit on my bed and listen to the rain
Going back in time in my head
Back when I use to run, ah yes
I ran quite often, though, never again

Do you remember? Or have you forgotten?
Those days I'd long to be by you
When you would beckon me over
I'd run and sought to be next to you back then

Down the street, I'd run, my legs burning
In the rain, though, a smile on my face
I didn't care, your attention on me
That's all it took to leave my heart yearning

Your face, your smile, your love
How foolish, how childish I was
To think such a thing, I knew
Only fools would dream of

Now I look back, now I'm at ease
I see now, the lessons hard to learn
Were necessary for me to grow
And I now love whomever I please

Still, my feels won't fade, I see that now
I will move forward but I won't forget
The times I spent running in the rain

I'll always care, though your love I sought in vain
