For all the dark souls

The ghosts are out tonight,
Preying on the weak,
Avoiding the light-
Broken souls they seek.
Broken, battered and bruised,
Used and used up,
Emptied and forgotten,
Minds warped and brains rotten.
These souls who in shadows lie,
Hiding from the world they hate,
Dwelling only in the shadows
They create.

Those who wallow in self-pity,
Blame themselves when life is s****y-
You can only play the hand you’re dealt,
When the winter melts away
Spring will return,
The world will burn with
A new fire of passion,
A new desire for action,
And freedom will come
To those dark souls
Who escaped the ghosts.

First thought: I love the game Dark Souls even though I suck at it xD
Second thought: Great work this is a great poem for this tome of the year and though normally I would explain what emotions and such I felt after reading this, I just can't for my own mind can barely comprehend how I;m feeling,

Nicely captured. The desolate feelings of being the victim and knowing there are those who prey on those. When life breaks you, it has a way of keeping you ground down into ever smaller pieces.

Quite a dark piece of writing, but towards the end, a light appears and gives direction, points those dark souls in the right direction, the path to freedom from their black abyss. Beautifully written.
