When you love more then you should you end up so hurt you don't know who you are anymore.

Leave me here

I know this love hurts

I know that our hearts are broken

Our souls shattered

I know this love crushed us

Broke us

 

I knew this was coming

I knew it was over

I knew I loved you but just love wasn’t enough

You broke my trust

I broke yours

 

I loved you

You loved me

Yet it was over

 

I wanted you

You wanted me

Yet it was over

 

I hurt you

You hurt me

It was over

 

Now I look back

I wish I did everything different

So I could have you here

But I can’t turn back time

Neither can you

 

 

Now I see you with you new girl

And I wish I was her

Now you see me with my new man

And you wish were him

 

When we were all said and done

I didn’t know who I’ve become

I guess I lost

I guess you won

 

Even now I still love you

I can relate to all that you say in this poem. I agree that it seems completely irrational to split when the love remains, but still it happens. Other factors often overshadow. For me, the poem didn't appear emotive. Instead it reads as reflective and insightful into the situation. A calm, sad write that I enjoyed :) Penny

And you wish were him...And you wish you were him...a "you" was missing
