Emmeline.

Emmeline.

A Poem by Angeliki Largatzis

Emmeline, away she went
tendrils soft
and a halo..
a dreadful ascend

for she dreamt a lullaby
in her cot of storks in flight
delighted..
she caught a magpie in her grasp
it explained to her in a hush
in something of a rush
that freedom is fleeting
in a vessel still beating
only a child, forever a child
she blinked owlishly
she smiled..
the magpie hung its head
and soon thereafter, fled..

Emmeline, away she went
tendrils soft
and a halo..
a dreadful ascend,
alongside a magpie's lament.
