![]() The Flower's PrayerA Poem by AngelicReckoning![]() One day, a little flower made a wish to the moon - only for it to have unexpected consequences.![]()
There once was a flower, the smallest for all to see.
She had a hue of white, a dash of brown, and the softest pink yet to be found. Still, no one seemed to come around. And as the tiny flower grew, She watched as the others were potted off, while her alone lay in that spot. One night as the moon was rising full, the flower bowed its petals and prayed. "Once, just once. Let someone stay." And to her dismay, the answer came the very next day. A rugged man fell into a hole right near her plot. Dazed and injured, he glanced around. But even then, he could not hear a sound. "Is anyone there?" He called out to above from where he lay. "I'm hurt and I need some help!" The man would cry for hours and hours. But, still, none came by. For no one could hear him. No one...save one. Three days went by and the man grew weak as his wound would bleed. But as the moon rose to it's peak, something happened, the flower began to weep. "Oh, moon, I'll ask nothing else." For she felt for the man, something more. "I'll trade all I have, if only you give me a chance to save this man." The moon in all it's wisdom shone its light softly down and granted the flower one hour that night. Lifting him with tender care, a woman now pulled a strand from her hair. Placing it on his wound, she crushed it gently like a petal. Crooning a quiet lullaby like soft chiming metal, she healed him. All as he looked on, wondering if he was dreaming. He asked her name, but no answer came, only a soft touch on his cheek. She had no time to spare, for her task now was done. And he smiled sadly, as he looked on, for the flower who saved him, now was really gone. © 2013 AngelicReckoningAuthor's Note
