Loser

Loser

A Story by ~Angelic~

Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place
I need this everytime, So take your lies get off my case
Someday I will find, A love that flows through me like this
And this will fall away, this will fall away

Two small hands gripped the sides of a white marble bathroom sink, followed by long brown hair draping over the beat up face of the young girl. Slowly she brought her brown orbs up onto the mirror, finally facing the horror of her home life. Two black rings around her eyes, bruised cheeks, hand marks clear on her neck. Anger and tears were filled in her eyes, her bruised lips quivering, trying to fight the tears but unable as the warm liquid finally trailed down her cheeks.

You're getting closer, to pushing me Off of life's little edge
Cause I'm a loser And sooner or later you know I'll be dead
You're getting closer, you're holding the rope and taking the fall
Cause I'm a loser, I'm a loser, yeah

Things have always been tough, a little hit here, a slap there, but this time it was worse, all because she had gotten a B in one of her classes. It didn't help that her mother didn't do anything everytime her father would beat her. If anything, she added fuel to the fire by making snide comments. "Instead of sitting around drawing all day, you could have been studying and gotten an A in that class. Your so useless"

This is getting old, Well I can't break these chains that I hold
My body's growing cold, There's nothing left of this mind or my soul
Addiction needs a pacifier, The buzz of this poison is taking me higher
And this will fall away, this will fall away

Her mother's words, followed by her father's fists caused this once young and happy girl to become so broken down. As she thought back to how things were and now how they are now, she grew even more angry with each passing thought. Gritting her teeth, she couldn't fight anymore and started to sob. The sobbing only lead to her screaming out, her hands gripping the sink as hard as she could. She had no one to turn to. She was an outcast at school, an only child at home, and her family knew but never did anything to help her. So instead, she decided she would help herself.

She stopped her screaming, but continued to sob, as she finally let a hand reach up towards the mirror, her bruised fingers opening it as her eyes instantly laid upon her mother's pain pills. She reached in, and pulled the bottle out. Moving away from the sink, she stared at the bottle and sat down on the toilet seat, just staring. In the distance, she heard a car pull up in her driveway and figured it was her parents, back already from the store. Not wanting to deal with another beating, she immediately opened the top and poured a good amount in her hand. With one swift movement, she popped them all in her mouth, and swallowed, repeating the motion until the entire bottle was gone.

Slowly her vision started to grow blurry, her breathing started to deepen and slowly she felt her entire body become sluggish. "Janey! Janey!" Someone called out from behind the bathroom door. Because she was so disoriented, she couldn't tell who it was and figured it was her father "Go...a...away" She called out weakly. Her eyes opened and closed before finally her entire body fell onto the floor. A loud rattling was heard coming from the doorknob and with force the door flung open but it was too late.

As the last thing her blurred vision could see, it came as a surprise to her. "K...Kevin?" She managed to whisper out but nothing more after that. Her cousin Kevin had came to take her away from the abuse, but he was too late. His arms held his cousin, sobbing over her now cold form. She died not knowing anyone cared about her. She died thinking she was a loser, finally pushed off of life's edge.

You're getting closer, to pushing me Off of life's little edge
Cause I'm a loser And sooner or later you know I'll be dead
You're getting closer, you're holding the rope and taking the fall
Cause I'm a loser, I'm a loser, yeah

This piece is so strong. The emotions are so fierce and so well portrayed. The addition of the lyrics was all pretty well done. I really liked it. Great job, this piece is brilliant.
