Why bother?/Invisible

Why bother?/Invisible

A Poem by ~Angelic~

Why bother with writing?

I don't get praise off of it

I don't help people from it

So why bother?

I feel invisible

I feel my writing isn't seen

Why can't I be as good as others?

How can I get recognize

When no one really pays attention to it?

Slowly I'm losing the will to write

Maybe I really can't write anymore

Either way, it does make me sad

That the one thing I thought I was so good at

Turns out to be something else

That makes me feel invisible as well

As depressing as this is, I've found that most of the things we rely on to give us our "identity," break our hearts. Writing is something wonderful, but when we base success on how we think others view it, it will disappoint, and it will destroy if we have made writing a supporting pillar to who we are. As narcissistic as it sounds, write for yourself. You never know how your writing will impact another person, positively or negatively. But you can know how it impacts you. I believe you have a great deal of power to inspire, but your self-doubt will be your undoing; not the lack of attention from outsiders who can never truly know the passion that is in your heart.

In this poem, I see strong questions, and a wavering heart. There is nothing wrong with that, but I'd like to see the awesome power of a poem with strong questions, and a strong heart. That's only my opinion, though. It does not change the beauty of your soul-searching words.
