![]() A Vampire Short Story...for nowA Story by MariahWInd whipped at their faces as they stood atop a cliff at a stand off while the moon was raising high above. Vampire against hunter, Man against beast. Who would live and who would die? The worst part for the vampire hunter was the fact that this vampire had betrayed him in the worst way; this vampire had made him fall in love. "Draw your weapon, Dorian." She whispered softly, sniffing the air, trying to sense his fear...he had none "You have no right to speak my name! Your kind is filth!" Dorian bellowed. "Now, now Dorian...we are friends and lovers...you love me." She said lowly with a smirk crawling across her face. Dorian began to tremble at the memory of them together. She had planned this from the beginning. No vampire had ever gotten that close. He always sensed there was something about her but he had no idea that she was a vampire. Usually he could sense their presence, feel the icy air as they walked by, and smell an innocence blood on their breath. She had had none of these traits...how had she been able to get so close with out trying to kill him? "SHUT UP!" He shouted beginning to lose his composer. "Oh, Dorian, you are a fool! You could never kill me...you love me far too much. Remember the first day we met?" She spoke innocently, trying to get inside his head, to get him to make a mistake, just so she could finish him. Dorian's face turned to stone. He did not want to remember how she felt next to him while they lied together as one. He did not want to remember how sweet, tender, and loving her kisses had seemed. He did not want to remember how she whispered to him over the phone late at night just to say I love you. He did not want to remember their first encounter. He did not want to remember her at all. "Let's finish this...Syrah," He said, trying hard to turn her own game against her. Syrah couldn't say anything. She hated the way he could whisper her name in such away that made her tremble. It wasn't in fear, but in anticipation. She had always had some feeling for this hunter...he was dangerous, feisty, and passionate with ever fiber of his being. From killing vampires to making love, there was heated passion. Now instead of feeling the heat of love and passion, she felt the heat of frustration and anger rising in him. He was hurting and she was making it far worse than any human would. She was something he hated with much more passion than he ever had with their love. No matter what they had been through, he just wanted her dead and gone. "Well looks like someone's getting quite angry with me. Dorian, don't you remember the night we fell in love?" She asked, trying not to choke on her own words. "No, because i never loved you." Dorian said, turning away. "You...you're lying! I can see it in your face!" Syrah screamed, hoping that he was lying. She jumped at him and tried to bite his neck, just to weaken him not to kill him. Then she felt something sharp pierce through her chest. She didn't even have to look down to know what it was. She looked up at him and tears welled up in her eyes as she looked into his ice cold eyes. The tears streamed down her face as she slowly laid down in the soft grass so she could take her last few breaths in comfort. "No...I'm not." He said, knowing he had just broken her heart and his own simultaneously. Syrah screamed and cried as she felt her body begin to turn to dust. She reached up and held onto his pant's leg just to get his attention and to make him listen. "I could...never...*gasp*...kill you...*gasp*...I love you Dorian." She said passing out from the pain and agony. "What...what have I done?!"Dorian screamed as Syrah's body began to disincarnate. Dorian tilted her head to him and kissed her lovingly but noticed that she was kissing back. He continued until he felt a sharp painful bite. He jumped back and saw Syrah's eyes...they weren't the beautiful sea green they always were blood red. He looked at her lips and saw his blood running down them. She pushed him down to the ground, bit down hard on his throat and began to drain him of all his blood. When she was done, and he was paler than death, she sat up. "I love you, Dorian..." She said with a low and evil chuckle. © 2009 Mariah
