Looking Glass

Looking Glass

A Poem by Angelface

Looking Glass

Your eyes flicker
When you notice the light,
My luminescent gaze.
Your fascination
Names me unique
From the lackluster haze.
Yet realize,
I am but a reflection
Of the spotlight in my face.
I am stunning,
And stunned -
Frozen animal in my place.
Like the moon reflects the sun,
To guide us in dark night -
So I see the lamp
And imitate its light.
And you, alike,
My sister or brother,
Are sun or daughter,
But refuse to see.
Instead, hold a mirror to me
And I become moonlight on water.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my poem. And I don't think that poetry can ever be read "wrong"... if it touches your heart or makes you think... then you are certainly reading it just right! Shine on, you crazy diamond!

I think this poem is saying to look to the real source. The line 'but refuse to see' confused me a bit. It seemed a bit judgemental at first, then as I pondered, it seemed more a call to action or challenge. I really like this. I may have it all wrong'ish' but I enjoyed being challenged to think.
