Last Wasted Words

Last Wasted Words

You once told her, your fragile dove,
Not to play games with your love,
You warned her of its bite.

But come to find out, all along
You played one tune but sang another song,
Justifying it to your self as right.

Sex as a weapon, hope as your lure,
You knew her heart was honest and pure
And could never resist your might.

When you were out and she wasn’t invited,
Accidents happen, but weren’t you delighted
To make sure she was alone out of spite?

You told the truth but never the whole tale
To incite her curiosity ‘til her wits would fail.
Motives half-hidden from the light.

You seem to have over-estimated her fragility,
The worst strategy for this opponent’s ability.
Know you the meaning of the word “smite”?

Now the Furies are angry; “Revenge!” they cry out
From the pit of her sickened stomach, waiting to fly out;
A terror when they take flight.

The restless dragon coiled around her heart
With monstrous ferocity hungers to tear you apart.
His anger smolders by night.

But the soft, gentle dove whispers “Hush,”
“Remember what they say, there is no rush.”
She is waiting for the time to be right.

“We shall see who has the bark and who has the bite!”
