Lonely Moon Do Not Cry

Lonely Moon Do Not Cry

A Poem by TJ
"

What is with my obsession with the moon?

"

In this wakeless night

The moon shines full;

What star could ever out match thee?

Her brilliance is in her light

And her ever changing moods;

For she is beauty and beauty is her.

But do not look so sad, my guardian,

Do not hold back your tears

And hide in shame,

For you have a friend-

Those beings you watch from afar,

Tiny, short-lived but filled with what you crave:

The freedom in which to disappear one night

And never return.

Tis a lonely moon, I fear,

For her eyes have lost their sparkle

And she becomes lazier with each passing day.

Could it be she’s received a gift

Of what she so desired and yet,

Regrets her wish upon an old friend’s shooting star?

If your time is up, my dear,

I will bid you farewell

With a prayer and a lullaby

To aid you in your slumber.
