What We Tell Them

What We Tell Them

A Poem by ABitBrokenPoetry

And we tell them
Look at the beautiful world we are a part of
Hear the breath of these ancient trees
Wade on the edge of the endless sea
And don’t worry that we are slowly killing it

And we tell them
Be kind. Be gentle.
Even though most of the world isn’t

And we tell them
All men are equal
strip off all the layers of everything that makes us different
And you’ll end up with the same thing
Flesh holding our bones together
Just try not to think of the wars raging
And the hate you'll eventually hear
About someone who is a different color
or worships a different god

And we tell them
….I tell them….
The world is beautiful, look and see
And I show them mountains, deserts, a sky full of stars
The world is beautiful, children
But the humans who are broken
And as every generation that came before
I’ll tell them...but maybe you can fix it?
here’s what’s left...please… please…
Let it be you that makes it truly beautiful again.

There are many things wrong with the state of planet Earth, and most of those wrongs have been caused by mankind! It seems that we, as a species, cannot live without war! Industrialists think almost solely about money, and making a profit at any cost!

At least the younger generation are more aware of what is going on, and many of them are prepared to put pressure on the powers that be to make the changes needed to save our planet. But politicians are quick to make promises and slow to implement them!

We can live in hope!
