What Bruises May Come

What Bruises May Come

A Poem by Girl With A Pen

Do you see these marks?
I see your bruise
I see the pain
They inflect on you
And what you do to me
Emotionally. . .
I can see through you
And your bruise
The black and the blue
The fights you would lose
You look at me
And begin the damage
Emotionally. . .
I am too
Emotionally bruised
We're both feeling numb
As we go on
For what bruises may come

Author's Note

Girl With A Pen
Bruises can be more than physical. Emotions can be bruised. In this poem I want to focus on the pain of two people, on pain physical and the other is emotional

Some of us wear our bruises and scars on the inside. People can't see them so they think they don't exist. But the pain exists.

Good poetry is from the heart and filled with feelings. You are good with that.

Very nice, and you are so correct that bruises are not always physical... Sometimes the worst are the ones that are not physical. I look forward to reading more of your works.

Emotional pain can be much stronger and much more penetrating than physical pain. Emotional scars can destroy a person. I do not mean to undermine physical scars, but they are not perpetual. They remind you of who you are. Emotional bruising destroys what its aimed at and they always say that words are more cutting than a knife's edge.
Nicely done.

hurt can go beyond physical
your poem does a great job of personifying that

as well as the struggle to find a place of healing
while in conflict with another

Honest and strong words. Create vision of struggle where both people will lose. Thank you for sharing the powerful words.
