The Reality of Fantasy

The Reality of Fantasy

A Poem by Angela L. Gibson

 Excluding everyday problems,

Ignoring all logical thought,

Preserving midnight dreams

And mystical configurations,

I escape to my fantasy world,

Where every particle of imagination

Fits perfectly into another,

Creating a false facade of Happiness

To present to the Outside World.

Deep in my fantasy world, where

The courageous, strong warrior

Defeats the ferocious Dragon

In the dark, sinuous corridors

Of the Dungeon --

Just as I defeat my Thoughts

Back into my mind

Creating a false facade of Happiness

To present to the Outside World.

I walk down the street

And see you --

And smile.

But deep inside

The Dragon has gained victory

And my wounded heart

Bleeds freely

As my false facade shatters.

Fantasy and inspiration are nicely blended, revealing the need and travails of imaginative journeys.

Unique and nicely penned...!

Oh, boy....have I been there and done that. Seemingly a thousand times. :) You capture the emotion well.
