Glass and Silver

Glass and Silver

A Poem by Angela L. Gibson

 Some of you detest me

and avoid me

because you see

a truth

reflecting back

that you would

rather keep concealed.

Some of you adore me,

won't stop looking at me,

even carry a pocket-me

with you everywhere you go.

Some of you dread me

and when you break me

you solemnly declare you’ll suffer

a horrible fate for seven years.

Some of you throw me

and smash me

and try to hide that

awful reflection of the truth --

hey, I just tell it like it is.

There's no sugar coating here.

Detest me, adore me,

dread me, abhor me.

How can glass and silver

have so much power?

This was intense and makes the audience try to pin down the contexts and possiblities of the story behind it.

Gripping, eccentric and mysterious I found. A good write.

Fabulous. This is a wonderful poem. It does personify the mirror, but it reflects the users as well. I really like it a lot.
