Wings

Wings

A Poem by A.D. Wilson

The sky is full of wings

Drifting on the wind

Spiraling downward

Landing in the grass

The grass is full of wings

Mysterious 'grass fruit'

Sprouting and reaching

Up toward the sun

Such delicate veins and

Shimmering iridescence

Do you belong to

Some exotic bug?

Delicate and brittle

I crush it in my clumsy hands

Did you belong to

A wondrous fairy?

Author's Note

A.D. Wilson
This is my first poem. My yard is covered with Maple seeds from a recent storm. Their delicate, wing-like structure inspired this poem. I experimented with the syllables in the poem. The second line gains one syllable each time. I just thought it was different. Please feel free to comment. I know this needs a lot of work.
