Echoes Of DarknessA Poem by Brandon JursichDuring my years of searching for somewhere I belonged I occasionally settled down in places I liked , many lonely nights I spent in nature before finding love in West Wisconsin
On a chilly winter night deep in rural Wisconsin greeted by the light of the moon I sit atop this bridge looking up at the stars and seeing them shine on the black surface of the water. It's not often I am blessed astray from being surrounded in the chaos of neon lights and drowning in a sea of everchanging faces. The business of reality and it's stimulation tends to silence my racing thoughts and the ever so loud spirits of isolation that whisper to me within the solitude I find in nature. This silence although welcoming makes me feel alone, only my shadow sits beside me and I don't know if i trust him. As I throw pebbles into the water I listen to hear echoes from the ripples as it plays a soft gentle tune coupled with the haunting whistles of the wind. I hear the howling of wolves in the distance and my hair starts to stand up as I am reminded that it's a different world among the wilds of the forest and the many beasts within its maze so how can I feel so lonely. Black wings fill the sky as the silouette of an owl sheets the night air with it's flight . I stop to admire its beauty and as I am filled with envy I dream to feel as free as that someday , and I start to cry as I am blanketed by the shadows of the cold dark night as I sit alone wishing someone knew how I felt. No words can ever accurately describe or express my madness so I pray to my soul that my spirit leaves the earth and ascends into the starry sky.
