Perks of ElevationA Poem by Angelreads
There's so much pain,
Don't you wish you could just stop seeing it all? Everyone, Everything, Just stop seeing all their lives all the time. You're eighty feet high, And suddenly it all doesn't seem so big. You feel you have a voice. You dont feel like that girl felt in third period, You dont hear the voices, You aren't drowning in it all, You're free. Free to do what you choose. It's nice isn't it, to have a choice. To feel that the world isn't on your shoulders, But all that is felt is the sway of life. Forewords, Backwards, You close your eyes, Because suddenly they start to betray you too. It's all so much, You forget what it's like to be still. All you know, All you want, is backwards, or forewords. Before you realize it, You already choose your answer. You knew your answer before it was even a choice. You open your eyes to see it for the last time, Your mom and dad looking at you from below. They come closer and closer, Sixty, Forty, Twenty. You're almost there, No more pain, No more suffering, It's all better, You made the right choice. You look down at your reflection on the world. I did what i had to do, Didn't I? © 2013 Angelreads |
