Balloon Ride
A Poem by Angel Fell
A magical balloon adventure
"Fly where Dad?",Well I don't know", "Turn the rudder nice and slow", "Get it straight, then off we go", He grinned and said "I do hope so", The idea in theory was to make a balloon, With the planned intent to reach the moon, Came very unstuck pretty soon, When we ran out of material round about noon, "I have an idea", my daughter said, pleased, "We can cut some patches from our knees", "The boys can sew them together with ease", And so here we were floating on the breeze, In our homemade balloon, somewhat patchy, We floated over lands and sea, Hot chocolate for them and tea for me, Feeling warm and excited, happy and free, But without a clue of why and where, Just blown upon streams of cool fast air, The moon now forgotten, we weren't going there, But me and my angels, well, we just didn't care.
