Magical Mistake
A Poem by Angel Fell
What happens when you catch the wrong thing???
My daughter sat upon my knee, Smiled so sweetly as she looked at me........... "Its my birthday tomorrow, i know you know that, But i think it's time that we had a chat", She told me she didn't want a mobile phone, Or a PlayStation or Xbox one of her own, Instead all she wished she really could see, Was a sparkly, beautiful, real life, fairy, So later that night when she was tucked up in bed, I took my mug of coffee in the garden instead, And there with a net, i watched the night sky, Hoping I'd see a sparkly fairy fly by.
I must of dozed off, but awoke to the sound, Of tapping on her window, so i quickly spun round, And there she was floating, so beautiful too, And i caught her so gently, it was the least i could do.
When my daughter woke up, down the stairs she did race, And she gasped with excitement at the smile on my face, She ripped off the paper, then let out a sigh, And a tear formed slowly in the corner of one eye, "Daddy, i love you" she whispered to me, "But that is not a beautiful, sparkly, fairy, This morning i felt lighter and one year older, And that's because my angel was not on my shoulder, And man or woman or child of any age, This beautiful being should not be in a cage", And with that she lent forward and opened the door, And out flew her angel, no longer trapped anymore, She flew to her shoulder, wiped the tear from her eye, Kissed her on the cheek, then waved her goodbye, And from the grin on her face, knew from that moment then, Her angel would always be there, she would see he again.
