Vampire Scene

Vampire Scene

A Story by Arlia
"

Basically, this is just some scene that came into my head and wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it down. It's about two people visiting an old friend─who happens to be a vampire.

"

“Here we are.” Stelle said, as the doors of the bar swung behind her. It was a dimly lit place, with purple and blue lights flashing around her. Leather seemed to be a fashion statement, since it looked as if everyone had had it on some part of their body. Dark lipstick and heavy eye makeup was seen everywhere and dark colors was the only type that appeared to be worn. In some corners, obscure shapes were writhing against the music, pressing their bodies together.

“So, who are we meeting again?” Jake shouted, competing with the loud music to be heard.

“Just an old friend of mine. Remember: Open-mindedness is the key here.” Stelle shouted back.

“She’s not crazy, is she? Because a lot of your other friends look really crazy.” It was, she sighed inwardly, a fact. Why, she didn’t know. Maybe she was some sort of magnet that attracted those lacking sanity to her. Or maybe she was just crazy herself.

“No, she’s not crazy, exactly. Just… oh, you’ll see when you meet her.” But this one was different. She wasn’t crazy. She was something else.

She walked up to the counter in the front of her. “Hey, Stephan, can you tell me where Ash is? I need to talk to her.”

“Stelle! What the hell are you doing here, of all places?” Stephan asked vehemently, leaning in with his elbows to talk to her.

“I need to talk to Ash.”

“Ashari’s busy. What is it that you want?” A large blond man suddenly stood beside Stephan"who stiffened considerably"as his dark blue eyes took measure of the pair in front of him.

“This is important. I""

He lifted his head all of a sudden, scanning the people around him as he inhaled. “Human.” He snarled, his voice piercing through the din. Abruptly, all became silent, as the music was suddenly cut off.

Well, it doesn’t get any better than this, she thought as they were completely surrounded. Why don’t we throw in a couple of bloodthirsty werewolves, just in case?

“Human? What’s a human doing, trespassing into vampire territory?” Someone in the crowd shouted.

Vampire??” Jake hissed in her ear.

She elbowed him. “Stay quiet. I’ll handle this.” She hissed back.

“We’re friends of Ash… Ashari. I just need to talk to her. We won’t bother you.”

“Why would a human need a vampire’s help?” Another one shouted.

“Humans don’t belong here.”

“But no one can pass up the idea of fresh food.”

“Fresh blood just wandering here in our home.”

“How could we resist such a treat?”

“Let’s get them!”

* * * * *

“Oh, so you’ll handle this, hmm?” Jake asked, five minutes later, as they were chained in a convenient corner in the bar.

“Shut up. I’m thinking.” She muttered as someone cuffed her wrists. Looking through the crowd, she spied"“Stephan! I really need to talk to Ash!”

“Why were you consorting with these creatures, Stephan?” Blond Guy, appearing out of nowhere"again"asked.

Stephan paled considerably, his white skin turning even more pasty. “I-I didn’t know what they were! I swear! They looked like any other vampire here"”

“Really?” His voice skeptical, he eyed Stelle’s tan, which she had just gotten over the summer. She really didn’t want to waste it by dying.

“It doesn’t matter. Let’s just drain them and get this over with.”

“Naw, man. Let’s torture them first.”

“Yeah. It’s always fun to hear their screams.”

“Amazing how loud they can get, isn’t it?”

As the vampires"who clearly had very short attention spans"discussed methods of torture and screams, Stelle silently wailed over how she’d look with her blood drained"pasty white"and her beautiful new tan gone, for no one to see. While thinking up a plan, of course.

“There was this one time where one screamed so loud that the glass actually"”

What is going on in here?” A new voice, clearly feminine, interrupted. Again, silence suddenly reigned.

“Ash! I could use a little help here!” Stelle’s shoulders slumped in relief. She wasn’t dying today, thank god.

Ashari’s face swiveled to meet Stelle’s, her eyes narrowed. “Stelle? What are you doing chained here?”

Blond Guy, appearing out of nowhere again"isn’t he just predictable?"stepped forward. “Mistress, these humans have trespassed on vampire property. You know the consequences.”

Ash had an amazing poker face, Stelle remembered, as she took in the bland expression that swept over her when she stared down Blond Guy.

“Be that as it may, Dominic, you aren’t the one to give orders around here. Have you forgotten your place so quickly?”

If looks could kill, Ash would’ve been lying in her own puddle of blood. Morbid thoughts won’t get rid of those wrinkles. Stelle recited to herself.

“Get out.” Amazed at he power of Ash's glare, she watched as the vampires scrambled to get out of the club. Ashari looked at Dominic. “You can give me those keys." Seeing him hesitate, she barked, "Now.

* * * * *

“Why didn’t you just break the chains?” Jake asked later, when they were situated in a room above the club. “You’re a vampire"you can do that. It’s not like you needed the keys.”

The bland expression was back. “I’d much rather prefer not to replace those new chains so soon.” She replied.
