Creative Genius

Creative Genius

A Poem by Angel Bird

Happy the one who can let loose of everything around, and get lost in the depths of his passion to embrace his own self, to become one with his soul, to rejoice and rebirth in his native and creative genius ...

When the drug called 'Passion' seizes the artist in me

It doesn't ask for the right time,

If it stands in the way of things ...

Passion doesn't kick in on command

There it is - suddenly! ... without warning

Grabs me, tears me into its voluptuous lap

Overpowering with its grandeur

Each and every feeling and thought within me

No escaping it ....... no option,

But complete surrender to the free oscillations

Of my being

Succumbing to subconsciousness

To mate with my spirit

Nothing but my human shell

Remaining in this material world .....

Out of these magical moments when nothing

Can hold back an artist - hot with creative energy

From pouring it out through a spiritual climax -

The most beautiful, the most perfect,

And the most precious pieces of art are born,

And provide their creator with a

Wonderful sense of achievement and deep satisfaction ...

oh, wow! I know this feeling, sometimes. . . when the words come from nowhere and fill you with more than you've known. . . when you look back and wonder where the big ideas came from and how they spilled themselves on the page so perfectly. This is a favorite!

it's well done! Passion provokes us in a certain things, that could brings us on high regard. It stimulates individuals to be succeeded.

Very powerful. I especially like the line: "Passion doesn't kick in on command". It sometimes comes at very inoportune moments! :-)

Angel Bird-

I swear that I already reviewed this poem. But, I don't see it here. That is a marvelous description of the inspiration of the muse. Sometimes, she makes you babble like a brook (to quote a commercial), and sometimes she clams you up. It seems that the more that you try to make something happen, the less that it does.

"Passion doesn't kick in on command
There it is - suddenly! ... without warning
Grabs me, tears me into its voluptuous lap
Overpowering with its grandeur"

I like that passage best. You get points for using the word "voluptuous." That just sounds great!

Great write. I look forward (hopefully) to more of your writing when the passion strikes again!

A true perspective, but a writer must often produce at times when passion wanes. To me, that's the mark of a true craftsman.

Loved it, great imagery and it also held a lot of sexual undertones for those who can find it.
Passion doesn't kick in on command
There it is - suddenly! ... without warning

Those lines really grabbed me because passion isn't a small thing it's an all out explosion

... and although I find myself learning even still, I know what you are saying here is so true. I'm happy to say I'm getting there, ever so slowly. :+)

This is wonderful! Thank you!!

I loved this. The passion that is almost overwhelming in just describing the power one gets from those moments of lucid truth. A point when the soul actually is able to leave the body in something sensual and spiritual. I love the way you capture such a wonderfulness of the raw experience. You really have a way with painting a scene or image with such a purposeful clarity.

Well Done!!!!!

Truly told! when it bursts, the juices must flow!
I love the way you have summed up this concept in a way that is seductive and relatable!
Passion is the coffee being made in a coffee pot! when its done, one cant do anything but have a cup!
Great job!

I really like this. The 'passion' is something I have been thinking about a lot lately. Sometimes wondering if it is still there, and then suddenly without warning it is overpowering.

Oh yes, you've penned it exactly! It is an overwhelming passion, as well as an overpowering one. And it is addictive! And satisfying as nothing else on earth can be or is. To find a place like this, the Cafe and other sites, where we can all share that passion -- and not have to explain it to anyone because they already know! -- is Nirvana.

Thanks for this! It should be given out to all young writers with a warning: are you ready to be subsumed?
