Creative Genius

Creative Genius

A Poem by Angel Bird

Happy the one who can let loose of everything around, and get lost in the depths of his passion to embrace his own self, to become one with his soul, to rejoice and rebirth in his native and creative genius ...

When the drug called 'Passion' seizes the artist in me

It doesn't ask for the right time,

If it stands in the way of things ...

Passion doesn't kick in on command

There it is - suddenly! ... without warning

Grabs me, tears me into its voluptuous lap

Overpowering with its grandeur

Each and every feeling and thought within me

No escaping it ....... no option,

But complete surrender to the free oscillations

Of my being

Succumbing to subconsciousness

To mate with my spirit

Nothing but my human shell

Remaining in this material world .....

Out of these magical moments when nothing

Can hold back an artist - hot with creative energy

From pouring it out through a spiritual climax -

The most beautiful, the most perfect,

And the most precious pieces of art are born,

And provide their creator with a

Wonderful sense of achievement and deep satisfaction ...

oh, wow! I know this feeling, sometimes. . . when the words come from nowhere and fill you with more than you've known. . . when you look back and wonder where the big ideas came from and how they spilled themselves on the page so perfectly. This is a favorite!

.
Out of the heavens the wind pours upon sails
A surging of need and tempered ink ignited
Worlds of imagination and creativity explode
As the bells of the hour ring loudly and clearly
Singing of the artistic echo across the oceans.

You truly have shined brightly with your words of wonder Angel Bird!
Such an enjoyment to take in and drink your creativity!
You are indeed an inspiration!

Sincerely,
T. Stone

Well you know I can relate to this poem, those who are not artist can't understand the creative process... if we create on command the work will lack true passion and come off flat... we have to be ready and let it out when the inspiration hits cause wants its gone it may not return.

Inspiration and passion go hand in hand.
Another perfect capture of the word!
Without inspiration and passion, art would be nothing.
Great job!

concur with your thoughts and the view that body is a shell whereas the spirit is unbound .. passion , ideas spring up just like that .. and this is exactly what keeps us going .. nice write

wonderful and powerful in its truth...Albert Einstein wrote that: "true art is characterized by an irresistable urge in the creative artist." yes indeed...i keep pad and pen next to my bed when dreams inspire me...am often hit in the shower (of all the inconvenient places!) but i am an art trooper and always prepared for the right moment...and when it isn't there...like a visual artist...i paint in the necessary areas...those spaces more laborious...with the more tedious chores...this hit the spot...most inspirational..thank you...

First, thank you for entering this piece in my Creative License contest. I really enjoyed the read. As writers, we are all artists, and can relate to this poem completely. I've added this to my favorites, because it's much like a conversation I've had with those more logical souls, whenever they've asked me to explain my 'inspired' behavior. Well done!

I can definitely feel the passion in this piece of writing. Can relate as an artist. Passion is like a drug. I love the way you describe this. Wonderful.

I so know that feeling! When I get to the climax of a story and write it...that is such a good feeling. And when I finish it...even better!
