Precious LittleA Poem by AnetoDear little bird, please don't fly
away. I see you right there, do you not
yet see me? You sing out so cheerfully, day
after day As bright as a sundrop, from cares
you are free But I care; is that why you fly
off so soon? Just now as my gentle approach draws
its nearest? A last single chirp brings an end to
your tune As you vanish away with the hope I
held dearest Dear little flower, I ask for a seed I wish to grow gardens of verdant
delight A small little token is all that I
need To begin this great work and to
start it off right I know I’m not worthy for such a
great feat And yet, here I stand, humbly
seeking your aid The blossoming fragrance you bring
is so sweet So would you… --oh, and you’re gone
I’m afraid Dear little star, like a jewel in
the night Eons away and yet near in my sight Ember of hopefulness, spark of
delight Might I but speak to a being so
bright? My words venture forth through a
darkening void Endeavoring bravely to reach and
impart My message in hopes of response
overjoyed But silence is all that is heard by
my heart Dear little moment I treasured so
long The warmth of your touch nearly
melts me inside Your blessedness glows like the
beauty of song In the fullness of time, like a
groom with his bride You leave with a sigh, full of peace
and good cheer A lingering smile, your last little
trace Though fading away, you will not
disappear For memory’s flame brings your light
