A Tale ToldA Poem by Aneto~raw and unrefined poem~
Why did you go?
Why did you never return? Will I ever know? Will these embers always burn? I cannot now reach out again Despite my ache for resolution At the mercy of time's healing Longing for that true revealing Questions linger in my mind What were we supposed to find Here at the end of all the roads The paths we walked and tales we wrote There's nothing here but emptiness When we had wished for sunrise bliss Ît seems the only souvenir Is recollection's fondest tear Carry me away, my pain! Flooding sorrows of my soul Aching love's torrential rain Wash away this hateful hole How can newness blossom here? In the mulch of shredded memories Held aloof by wounded fear Is the vision hope so clearly sees And yet the beautiful work of art The Painter paints upon my heart Must not be soiled or rejected From bitterness must be protected I must carefully guard The glorious shard Whose faithful hope would never fail And lovingly re-word the tale "Photographs of memories Hopeful laughs and simple looks Countless miles, endless trees A thousand smiles in my books" © 2023 AnetoReviews
