Seeking YouA Poem by Aneto
Ask, and you shall receive in kind
Seek, my child, and you shall find Knock, and the door shall open wide Pray, and all shall be supplied Gracious Father have I not Prayed and knocked and asked and sought? Did I somehow ask amiss To spend on pleasure's fleeting bliss? Was it simply not your will That this, my hunger, you should fill? Why, oh Lord, do you sit back As I experience this lack? You, my God, are always good In truly faithful fatherhood You treasure those you call your own When asked for bread, you give no stone And though the lions young and gaunt May suffer lack, I shall not want For not a mother have I met Whose nursing babe could she forget And how much more, when sparrows fall Would God who sees them hear my call For every gift is from above The Father of Lights sends down his love My portion is a pleasant lot Whether I get what I wanted or not So humbly, God, I pray instead That I receive my daily bread And if I now lack no good thing Perhaps this ache that longings bring Is in itself a gift of good This hope that life on earth now could Be as it is in heaven then I pray this be thy will, Amen © 2023 AnetoReviews
