Overdue, Session 2A Poem by Aneto
A glimpse of hope is all you need
To carry on, the flame to bear You wish that words could be the seed Of blessing to a heart that's bare You're sad things had to end this way You wish that things could be alright You wish that you could be okay You wish to see a future bright But cynicism subtly Has stunted creativity Now imagination's hard The strength of hope is but a shard I've heard you say a thousand times You're hurt, you're tired, sad, in pain All inside is mucky grime And you could never rid the stain The light of life has left your eyes For up ahead is dim and cold Longing looks for faith to rise Groping for a hand to hold Strangely though, you never can Fully open up, I mean Something's somehow greater than Desire to be known and seen Fear perhaps? Or maybe shame? What shackle-root could run so deep? What's my problem, who's to blame For why I never take the leap? Friends will try to give me space An avenue to share my load And yet I can't accept their grace And plod along my weary road Who will free me from this death? The agony of living here Dispairing hope in every breath Trapped by hurt or shame or fear God of my salvation, come! I need You now to hold me tight Your melody's the peaceful hum That says, "I know, and it's alright" © 2023 Aneto |
