Farewell

Farewell

A Poem by Aneto

Greetings, friend

Before farewell

I’d like to spend

Some time to dwell

And reminisce

On days gone by

The things we miss

The love to die

To lay ourselves

Aside and give

The upper shelves

A box to live

To rest in peace

Till we again

May then increase

In joy within

Like stars at night

Whose tales aligned

We'll reunite

And call to mind

When dark and light

Were intertwined

And strength to fight

Was hard to find

The days were hard

The nights were long

Our woundings scarred

Recovering wrong

But here we stand

We both survived

We reached the land

For which we strived

And here the air

Is still and calm

Our wounds repair

And bathe in balm

So was it worth

The toiling trudge

Across the earth

To bear this grudge

Unto the plot

Where now we sit

The very spot

To bury it

And say goodbye

And solace give

The dead must die

The live must live

Alive we are

To raise a song

To Morning Star

Our hope is strong

So let us hasten

Now the day

Sharing grace in

Every way

I bid thee well

In what you fare

You’ll always dwell

Within my prayer
