Dear Friend

Dear Friend

A Poem by Aneto

Here you are, a soul in need
Wounded trust is what you bleed
Far from home, the place they stole
Your shattered pieces can't fill that hole

The painful memories dull your brain
Once quicker than lightning, now muddy with rain
Your time with friends and family
Were sacrificed for a harlot's fee

You struggle for hope in this meaningless mire
You're smothered in smoke from the smoldering fire...

And here I stand; I see your plight
I long that love may lead to light
My haven's hearth would grant repose
And gather warm what winter froze

The kiss of dawn would raise your head
Your dreams alive, you'd rise from bed
To live in growing harmony
With fellow singers of Calvary

And though I wish for you this thing
My own ambitions cannot bring

But Jesus Christ is here, my friend
With wounded hands that heal and mend
Immanuel indwells your soul
He whispers peace and makes you whole

And if in some miraculous way
He'll use my words and actions to say
"I love you, child," then glory be!
He's given a role in your story to me
