StarlightA Poem by Aneto
"Where are you taking me
And whither do you lead?" I queried to the whisper Of the warming summer breeze "Where does thou most wish to go And thither find repose?" The warming breeze responded "Follow me, if thou wouldst know." The promise of the breezy-shine Had tripped me into following The brightened path before my eyes That smelled of summer's spring I traipsed along and closed my eyes The better to follow the whisping guide My lids aglow with the light beyond And playful-gentle at my side But as we bobbled on our way A streak of shadow crossed my face My lids recoiled, cold to the touch Exposing my sight to another place "Where have you brought me And why have we come?" I yangled too clear to be heard "You promised a place filled with kisspers of light Which is far from this gromel-filled vale." "Not so, not so, this way we must go For though you have chosen to go where I blow I know of the onliest road to the land I showed you and told you is nearer at hand." But I refused to close my eyes And trudged myself back in the darkening light I knew I'd been tricked into following Aira From thither I went with a withering sigh
