Contra DanceA Poem by AnetoA tribute to the many years of contra dancing enjoyed by me and my friends.
As we enter toward the center
Of the room we spy our friends Gladly beaming as we're teeming With together-joy again Then the caller standing taller Asks for all to quiet down With the chatter from the gladder Folks forgetting how to frown Soon the telling turns to yelling As she struggles to maintain Our attentions at she mentions How to do a ladies chain Soon the spinning starts beginning And the room begins to swirl As we're turning, I am learning How to brighten up my girl Neighbors meeting, sometimes greeting Maybe not a word is said Just a smile all the while Speaking with our eyes instead All the spinning and the grinning Living fully in the now Through the stumbling and bumbling Until the final bow © 2023 AnetoReviews
