SundownA Poem by AnetoInspired by several friends in my community; I treasure your gifts and the ways you give them.
I sit upon a rooftop
And I gaze upon the town Windows full of candle light And as the sun goes down The baker packs his wares away And smiles; a job well done Parents, children, all alike Have fed upon his bun The inn is full of guests tonight The inkeep bolts the doors His hospitality in keep With all his generous stores The smiling lighter of the lamps Extinguishes each glow Her smile shines to light the way Wherever the road might go But God above does not turn in Throughout the night he keeps His children safe within His sight He slumbers not nor sleeps
